PROVO, Utah, October 8, 2012 – MultiLing, a translation services provider specializing in intellectual property (IP) and technical materials translations for multi-national enterprises, today announced it has promoted Todd Rapier to executive vice president of worldwide sales and hired a new European sales manager, Peter Fischer, to expand the company’s reach on the continent. At the London Patent Summit today and tomorrow, both Rapier and Fischer will share MultiLing’s centralized translation model for enterprise patent translations, which now account for approximately two-thirds of the company’s revenues.
A native English speaker fluent in Korean, Rapier joined MultiLing in September 2011 as vice president of sales in North America, leveraging 15+ years of experience in sales in the legal/patent industries for such multinational companies as LexisNexis, Simplure Power and Velosum, Inc. At MultiLing, Rapier is responsible for helping enterprises translate into more than 80 languages, while managing sales teams across the company’s seven offices in the United States, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea and Peru. Rapier is supporting record sales growth for MultiLing by bringing in new clients such as Life Technologies, a global biotechnology company with customers in more than 160 countries.
“Todd continues to prove his expertise and industry knowledge – and as a result, is playing a pivotal role in growing our IP translation business worldwide,” said Lyle Ball, chief operating officer, MultiLing. “With Todd leading the corporate sales efforts and our new European sales manager canvassing the continent for enterprises demanding quality translations for their highly technical patents, MultiLing will be sure to reach our aggressive sales goals in Europe and across the globe.”
MultiLing Hires New European Sales Manager
As the sales manager in Europe, Peter Fischer is responsible for growing MultiLing’s client base on the continent by specifically targeting the IP sector. Fischer, a German and English speaker, studied computer science at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, and started his career in sales in the mid 1990s by developing complex, individual document and knowledge management solutions for government agencies and Fortune 500 companies. During his eight years at Thomson Reuters, Fischer helped major clients in Europe improve their IP information processes globally, which increased their patent quality and reduced litigation risk.
“Hiring Peter to manage sales in Europe was a major coup for MultiLing and for enterprises throughout Europe,” Rapier said. “Peter has an in-depth knowledge of what these companies need to translate patents into the languages that are required to protect their intellectual property and conduct businesses on an international scale. We’re already seeing that expertise pay off.”
MultiLing’s current European clients include Carbogen Amcis, the World Intellectual Property Association (WIPO), Lufthansa and the European Union”s European Translation Centre.
Founded in 1988, MultiLing specializes in translating for the patent, IT, chemical, medical technology, biotechnology and automotive industries. Current clients include many Fortune 500 companies such as Dell, Procter & Gamble, Siemens, TYCO, Münchener Rück, LSI Corporation and Promise Technology.
