According to the latest World Intellectual Property Organization statistics, energy-related industries worldwide have shown continuous growth in patent applications over the last several years. In fact, the total number of patent applications for four energy-related technologies—fuel cell, geothermal, solar and wind—increased by 8 percent from 2012 to 2013 with applications in these categories amounting to 34,873 in 2013. In addition, Japan filed the largest number of applications relating to solar energy and fuel cell technologies, while Germany and the United States had the largest numbers of applications relating to geothermal and wind energy, respectively.
As energy patent translation applications in these energy segments have continued to increase, so has the need for an international translation service. MultiLing has invested in translators and project managers intimately familiar with the needs of multinational enterprises in these segments. The result: increased patent filings, decreased office actions and invalidation risk and faster time to grant.
